1. For Windows or Linux Desktop (VMware Workstation)
You would use this to run a virtual operating system (like Linux or a second instance of Windows) inside your current computer.
VMware Workstation Pro: This is now free for personal use.
VMware Workstation Player: A simplified, free version, but most users should now use Workstation Pro since it is free.
General Steps:
Download: Go to the official Broadcom download portal (VMware’s parent company) and create an account to download the installer for your OS (Windows .exe or Linux .bundle).
Run Installer: Double-click the downloaded file (on Linux, you may need to run it via the terminal with sudo sh filename.bundle).
Follow Wizard: Proceed through the setup wizard.
License (Pro): For personal use, select the option that indicates you are using it for non-commercial purposes when prompted.
2. For Mac Desktop (VMware Fusion)
Similar to Workstation, this allows you to run Windows, Linux, or another version of macOS inside your current Mac.

ESXi: The hypervisor itself.
vCenter: Management software used to manage multiple ESXi hosts.

Download: Download the ESXi ISO file from the Broadcom portal (requires a license or trial).
Create Bootable Media: Burn the ISO to a CD or flash it to a USB drive (e.g., using Rufus).
Boot from Media: Insert the media into the target server and boot from it.
